The line runs both National rail (Chiltern Railways) and London Underground (Metropolitan Line) services. The question we have always asked ourselves is how interesting would it be for the player? I can see here that there are already some mixed opinions on the idea.Ĭan you think of any sections of the London underground, or any other one for that matter, which would make for great gameplay? I would love to hear your suggestions.Īs I have said before, I believe that the London to Aylesbury line would make a great edition to TS2015. We have thought about creating an underground route in the past and it is still not off the table for consideration. Originally posted by DTG_Admin:A great discussion everyone.
The line also has a variety of scenery and elevation with multiple branches towards both ends of the line. I also wouldn't mind see the Central line on TS2015 either as the current trains (1992 stock) are very quick with good acceleration. (the class 168 Clubmann also makes an occasional appearance along the line aswell). The route features the Class 165/0 Networker and the LU S8 stock. The line is also used by Chiltern Railways as they run services between Marylebone and Aylesbury along the line. Personally, I would like to see the LU Metropolitan line from Baker Street - Amersham, as it's a very nice commuter route, stretching from Central London to the Buckinghamshire country side. The Sub-surface lines would probably be easier to create as they have various sections of tunnels and open sections. But if you want either of those two, then it would be a challenge (and a pain) to build. Only the Victoria and Waterloo & City lines are completely underground. 51% of track on the London Underground network is above ground. But it would be nice to see a line of the London subway or the Paris subway or the Berlin U-Bahn all of whom are not entirely underground. But yes it's definitely a challenge to build tunnels and underground stations I agree on that. I would try the key independent TS forums. However, I know a few players have tried and created freeware underground routes, so it may be that you can find something that satisifies your desires within TS. Personally I would greatly dislike such a route. But it's also a rather specialist market by no means do all players want to spend their whole time driving through tunnels. I may be wrong and someone out there is up for a real challenge. My understanding is that it's really hard to produce good quality lengthy tunnels within the TS World Editor as it stands, and as such long tunnel complexes tend to be not liked that much by traditional TS route creators. I think it's for good reason that very few traditional developers of TS creations have tried extensive long tunnel routes (Aerosoft also the designers of the World of Subways are an exception with their Berlin TS route). But I do think it would be nice if Train Simulator could include a few underground systems.
